What it measures

Facebook ad cost is the total amount you spend on a campaign, driven by your daily budget and how long the campaign runs.

Formula

Total Spend = Daily Budget × Days · Clicks = Spend ÷ CPC · Impressions = Spend ÷ CPM × 1,000

Worked example

A $50 daily budget over 30 days totals $1,500, which at a $0.97 CPC buys about 1,546 clicks and at an $11 CPM about 136,364 impressions.

Typical benchmarks

Average CPC
$0.50-$2.00
Average CPM

Typical test budget
$20-$50/day

How this calculator works

Total spend = daily budget × days. Estimated clicks = total spend ÷ CPC, and estimated impressions = total spend ÷ CPM × 1,000. Facebook CPCs commonly fall between $0.50 and $2.00 depending on industry and targeting.

Frequently asked questions

How much should I budget for Facebook ads? +

Start with a test budget you can run for at least 7–14 days so the algorithm can optimize — often $20–$50/day. Scale once you see a profitable cost per result.

Why are my actual costs different? +

CPC and CPM fluctuate with audience, placement, season, and ad quality. Use your own account averages for the most accurate estimate.

What is the minimum budget for Facebook ads? +

Meta requires at least $1 per day for impression-based campaigns and around $5 per day for click or conversion objectives, but realistic testing usually needs $20-$50 per day.

Does a bigger budget lower my cost per result? +

Not directly. Higher budgets help exit the learning phase and gather data, but cost per result is driven by audience, creative quality, and competition rather than spend alone.

How long should I run a campaign before judging cost? +

Give campaigns at least 7 days and roughly 50 conversions to exit the learning phase before optimizing, since early costs are often unstable.
